The closest place to home to practice some climbing. Six miles of climbing. Six miles down. Repeat.
Where to Park
We start at the New Hope Community Center that is about six miles from the start of the climb. This provides a good warm up and cool down. There is lots of paved parking here.
Description
There is a theme for this ride of every segment being six miles long. Starting at the New Hope Community Center, you ride six miles to the base of Brushy Mountain, taking a right on Brushy Mountain Road. Six miles and 1,100 ft of climbing to the top. There are grades of high single digits on the way up – mostly 6% or 7%. At the top, there is a volunteer fire department station where you can fill up with water and rest a bit. Then six miles down the back-side of the mountain. Then you climb up the back side to the fire station for a rest. Down the front side of the mountain and returning to the car puts you at 36 miles and 3,800 ft of climbing. Of course, feel free to climb Brushy Mountain as many times as you like to make the ride as challenging as you wish.
