Where to Park

There are not a lot of good parking spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway itself. I park at the Food Lion on Hwy 321, because it has lots of parking and it is close to the entrance to the parkway. The address for this Food Lion is 7533 Valley Blvd, Blowing Rock, NC.

Description

This section is very scenic as you bike past Price Lake, the Linn Cove Viaduct, and Grandfather Mountain. You could easily add in some short hikes on this trip – maybe to see Linville Falls, the Linn Cove Visitor Center, or around Price Lake. You could easily add or remove mileage from this route.

There is water at the Linn Cove Visitor Center at mile 14.5 on the way out and mile 39 on the way back. There is also water at Linville Falls.

On the way back there is a little restaurant called The Mountain Boomer just off the Blue Ridge Parkway on Hwy 181. Could be a good stopping point for a meal as it is at mile 22 on the way out and mile 31 on the way back. I suggest checking that it is still there if you’re planning on stopping. There are also many restaurants in Blowing Rock as an alternative.
