This can be super spicy if you add additional spices, but I have listed the blend I like to use.
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown Minute Rice
- Dehydrated veggies (I usually use bell peppers and tomatoes)
- 4 oz smoked sausage
- 1 chicken bullion cube
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp thyme
- 1/4 tsp oregano
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- dash of tumeric
- dash of cayenne
- 2 1/2 cups of water
Directions
- Add all ingredients to the pot of water. Bring to a boil.
- Cook to package directions for the rice.
There are variations here on the veggies and protien. The protien that works best is if you can bring some smoked sausage with you. It’s hard to find a small smoked sausage, and you may need to eat part of it for lunch on the trail and put the rest in this dish for dinner (can you have too much sausage in a day?). You could substitute a dehydrated protien, like chicken, into this recipe as well.
