New Van Day – 5/6/25

Ford really tries my patience. No communication about the status of the van at all. The dealer knows almost nothing, but keeps telling me that it will arrive “next week”. Like, “tomorrow never comes”. So, it ended up taking two months more than I thought, but on May 6th I finally took delivery of my new van.

I plan to drive it around for a while before I start the build, just to be sure everying is okay with it. But, so far, I really enjoy driving it. It has great sight lines and I appreciate all the new technology in it. I’ll be driving it up to Virginia this weekend for a charity bike ride I’ll be doing, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it does on the highway.

The key specs on the van are;

  • All wheel drive
  • 3.5L Ecoboost engine
  • 4-way swivel driver and passenger seats
  • 12″ nav screen with loads of technology like 360 degree view, reverse sensin, and lane assist
  • Black HID headlamps
  • Extended range fuel tank (31 gallon)
  • Virtual rear view mirror
  • Matte black wheel rims
  • Keyless entry pad

One bright note is that Ford is now offering employee pricing for everyone on new vehicles, so my dealer took an additional $2,500 off the price of the vehicle for me. So, that helped offset my angst with the delay in delivery.

Next week, when I start the van build, I’ll be starting with the roof rack. Stay tuned!
