Day #75 Van Build – 9/11/25

Took yesterday off for my anniversary and today I was tied up most of the day and didn’t get to start working on the van until 3:30 in the afternoon. I was able to pick up some aluminum extrusion fasteners from the Grainger warehouse in Charlotte this morning, so I’m back in business for working on the van.

I spent the little time I had today continuing work on the microwave cabinet. I cut out six pieces of wood to form the walls and floor of this cabinet. I stained all of them before dinner. Then after dinner I bolted most of them together, which included cutting out the necessary notches so that the panels would fit around the extrusions and fasteners. I test fit the microwave into the cabinet and it fit well. Here are a couple of pictures of it with the microwave set inside the cabinet.

Tomorrow, I’ll mount the cabinet into the van w/o the microwave. Really, just to get it out of the way. Once I wire up the light that goes under the cabinet, I’ll install the microwave. But, I’m waiting for the switch to wire the light and that is scheduled to arrive on Saturday. Until then, I’ll switch (no pun intended) my focus to the galley fabrication.
