Day #55 Van Build – 8/10/25

Today is my birthday, so I spent most of it with family and friends. Lots of phone calls and messages, which made me feel good. I did sneak in about an hour and a half of work on the van. I was able to cut out the holes and pre-drill holes for screws for all the components that go into the back panel of the electrical cabinet. Here is what it looked like when I finished.

The red component in the top middle is the master on/off switch. The hole below that switch is for the battery cable to route through. In the upper left is the solar isolator switch, which basically allows me to disconnect the solar panels from the system. There are two small holes above and below the solar isolator for the solar wires to route through. In the upper right will be the system control screen. The big hole is for the HDMI cable that feeds the monitor. Below that is a hole for a 120V outlet and below that is two holes for 12V DC outlets. One of the two small rectangle cutouts is for a switch to turn on/off the StarLink system and the other one is for a switch to turn on/off the back four LED lights in the ceiling. In the bottom of the panel is a smaller rectangle cutout for the 12V fuse box and a larger rectangle cutout for the 120V circuit breakers.

I made lots of sawdust, but am happy to have that panel “ready” for wiring. Next, I’ll work on the back board, which is a bigger project.
