Days #23 & #24 – Bike Across America

I spent two days with my Aunt Barb and Uncle Mike in Downers Grove, IL. My congestion has continued to improve and is almost gone.

Lots of time visiting family. Glad to be here to join in Barb’s birthday celebration.

Also to attend Barb’s birthday party with a lot of family.

Helped hang some new blinds, played some Cornhole and did reasonably well for someone who has rarely played.

Weather continues to be excellent with perfect spring days. Sunny with temperatures in the mid 50’s at night and 70’s during the day.

Doing lots of reading. I finished “Killing Jesus” by Bill O’Reilly. I am now re-reading “The Hobbit”, as I find several parallels between the character Bilbo Baggins and myself on this adventure. If you have any good book suggestions, please let me know.

Back on my bike tomorrow to ride to my brother Joe’s house.

  1. HI Jim – Congratulations on the experience!! Here are some possible books that may match the spirit and entertain (some of these are older – so you may have already read them) – but all good and several lend themselves to your daily breaks: Born to Run, Dividing the Great, Unbroken, Pro Cycling on $10 a day, Iron War, Natural Born Heros, Swimming with Orcas, Corelli’s Mandolin, Slaying the Badger, Lone Survivor, Bill Bryson Notes from a Small Island. Inspired to Ride is a good movie that is your adventure.

  2. Very much enjoying reading your blog and all of your adventures! I have enjoyed sharing it with the girls as well. I’m so excited for you to be experiencing all of this! We will continue to be praying for your safety
