Day #9 (5/15/24) – Bike Across America

Today was an off day. I wanted to recover a little from the last four days of biking and it was forecast to be a rainy day. Never trust a weather forecast! It turned out to be a nice day…but I still needed to rest my body.

The hotel has an excellent breakfast with made to order omelets, fresh fruit, oatmeal, breads, etc. Even servers who will bring you anything you want, so you don’t have to get up…just keep eating. Since it was all you could eat, I figured I’d get my money’s worth. 🙂

Did my morning routine of meditation, prayer, and exercise (although that had to wait until I had digested some of that breakfast). Then spent time with the two books I’m reading, “Wise Confidence” by Giovanni Dienstmann and “How to Know a Person” by David Brooks. I am especially fond of the book by David Brooks.

The hotel has a great exercise room and I was able to lift weights for the first time since I started my trip.

A slow day. I did prepare a plan for the next two days, but you never know how it will work out. I’ll figure it out as I go. Looking forward to getting back on the bike tomorrow.

  1. Glad you are resting. I can well imagine how this trip takes a toll on your body. Bridget will be dog sitting for the next few days. I will miss her.
