Day #84 Van Build – 9/28/25

I’m back from a week away and had a ton of material delivered. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a lot of time today, but managed about 3 1/2 hours. I started out with a simple task of securing the eye bolts in the ceiling unistrut that will hold the upper bunk. I had received the square metal plates that I needed to do this and I simply bolted them in.

Then I worked on the sink. I had received the quick disconnect fittings for the water tank and the fittings that I needed to connect them. I was able to connect everything, but I was missing one hose clamp to finish the job. After driving so much the last week, I wasn’t up to going out for one hose clamp. So, I’ll pick it up when I’m out for something else and finish it. But, here is what the top of the water tank looks like with the yellow quick disconnect installed.

I also installed a heavy duty velcro strap under the sink to hold that blue water tank and keep it in place.

Hopefully I can show you a picture of it all put together tomorrow and also results from testing it out.

The rest of the day I worked to assemble the lower bunk. I had purchased the aluminum extrusions cut to length and pre-machined. While I was away last week, the fasteners came that I needed to attach the drawer slides to the frame. I assembled everything together and it fit perfectly.

I spent the rest of the day working on cutting out the board that will be the platform to sit on. I cut it out of 1/2″ Baltic Birch plywood. There are two pieces of plywood that I have to add to this frame. I cut out the first piece, but there was a lot of interference when I tried to assemble it to the frame. I ran out of time today, but tomorrow, I’ll disassemble the board and make some relief cuts to help it to go together better.
