There is a great rest area at Cumberland Knob at mile marker 217.5. Lots of parking. Great rest rooms with running water to fill water bottles. Picnic tables and some short hikes.
Description
This is an out and back bike ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I always like biking on the Blue Ridge Parkway, because it is very scenic with not many cars. It is a hike on a bike. This ride starts at a great rest area with running water restrooms and lots of parking. The ride is more uphill on the way south to Doughton Park, which I always like. We stop at most of the uphill overlooks to take in the views. The turnaround point is a newly re-opened restaurant at MM 241 called The Bluffs. We timed it out to arrive at The Bluffs about 11:30am, which allowed us to get a table for lunch without waiting. The food was very good and made for a nice break the halfway point of the ride.
