Day #30 Van Build – 6/24/25

Returned from my trip around mid afternoon and spent four hours working on the van. I puddied the window frame to fill in the cracks in the corners of the assembly. After the puddy dried and I sanded it, I wasn’t satisfied with the fill, so I applied another layer. I’ll let it dry overnight and sand it tomorrow. Then, I’ll apply some Minwax Paste to finish the wood.

I installed most of the remaining furring strips in the van. I received some more rivnuts and bolts yesterday, so I could complete this work. I still have a few more furring strips to install around the back of the van once I apply my energy to how to route the Ford wiring harness in the back.

I also did some more work on the lower bunk fabrication. I installed more pieces and mostly focused on the drawer slides.

I also marked the location of the holes for the driver’s side ceiling unistrut. For the walls, I utilized the existing rivnuts that Ford installed, but for the ceiling I’ll need to drill my own holes and install my own rivnuts. I was going to drill them out tonight and paint them, but I realized that I didn’t have the right size drill bit for the M8 rivnut. So, I ordered it on Amazon to be delivered tomorrow. I’ll drill them when it arrives.

Here is a couple of pictures of the inside of the van where you can see the extra pieces on the bed assembly and the extra furring strips on the wall.
